After vacating the AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title on 6/12/98, Maunakea Mossman graduated to the heavyweight division. As part of his growth, he had a trial series throughout the "SUMMER ACTION SERIES II 1998" tour. He lost to All Japan's four most established stars (Misawa, Kawada, Taue and Kobashi), but scored important victories over Wolf Hawkfield, Giant Kimala and Johnny Smith.
