Tomoaki Honma made great waves on the independent circuit, becoming a Death Match legend in Big Japan Pro-Wrestling, and having some of the bloodiest matches ever. Following his indy graduation, he signed a contract with All Japan, and had a five match trial series along with Hideki Hosaka throughout the "SUPER POWER SERIES 2002" tour. He was able to score no wins, losing all five matches, including one to Abdullah The Butcher, a man he defeated in late 1999.
